Spacestack vs Dubsado
Dubsado is a highly customizable client management tool for freelancers and service businesses. Spacestack is venue management software. Here is how they differ for a venue that books events.
Join the WaitlistDubsado is built for service providers such as photographers, designers, coaches, and planners. It combines forms, proposals, contracts, invoicing, scheduling, and a client portal, and its workflow automation is flexible enough to model almost any process if you are willing to build it.
That flexibility is also the catch for venues. Dubsado has no built-in idea of dates, spaces, holds, or banquet event orders, so venues recreate those with custom forms, tags, and workflows, and still check availability in a separate calendar. Spacestack starts with those concepts, so there is nothing to build before you can reply to an inquiry.

Where Dubsado is a good fit
If you are a planner, photographer, or other service provider who likes to design your own client process, Dubsado's custom forms and automated workflows are a real strength. Small venues that host only occasional events and treat each one as a standalone project can also make it work.
Where venues run into limits
Availability lives somewhere else
Every venue inquiry starts with whether the date is open. Dubsado does not know which dates are booked, held, or free per space, so your team checks another calendar before replying and tracks holds by hand. In Spacestack, spaces, events, and tentative holds live on one calendar with conflict checks.
You build the venue workflow yourself
Dubsado can be shaped into a venue process, but someone has to design the forms, statuses, and workflows, then maintain them as packages and policies change. Spacestack ships with the venue workflow already in place: inquiry, tour, proposal, contract, deposit, BEO.
No banquet event orders
Your kitchen and setup crew need a BEO for every event. Dubsado has no equivalent, so venues rebuild event details in a separate document. Spacestack builds the BEO from the booking's events, menu, and timeline.
Multiple events, rooms, and venues
Venues regularly host several events across different rooms on the same day, and groups run more than one property. Spacestack's calendar is built for that. Dubsado treats each booking as an unrelated project.
Switching from Dubsado
Your contract language can be pasted into a Spacestack document template with merge fields added, and your packages go into your catalog. Bulk import of contacts and past events is not available yet, so contact us if you would like to talk through moving over.
